#2 for me. I like the processing, low angle and it just feels great. Little bit of motion blur would help, IMO, as she look a bit static, unless that's how it's supposed to be
Running a little dry on Process. I have two more ideas after this, but one of them requires an awful lot of lego or a lot of tedious Photoshop work. Anyway, quite happy with how this one turned out:
Cheers old chap, but I'm not back, just popped in to say hello and I just had to post something on your thread as the images have been really top shelf.
Well, I got here in the end, please try to put a link from the pictures thread...
OK, I really like the scientific process story board although a pic during the transition from woman to man might have really sold it (it did take a moment for the penny to drop as to what had happened, but maybe it's just me!).
As usual your standards of pictures and presentation are top notch and you put shedloads of work into these so I have nothing but praise. Keep up the good work - we're almost Half way
Process - Certainly not disappointing me, great thought & execution as always, really like the way they are set out and the second made me chuckle with your expression so pips it for me
The biggest problem for me this week was that I've done some portraits around the theme of Rock Gods before - in fact one of them was the first shot where I ever started to evolve something that was recognisable as my own style.
So the challenge this week became about stripping out all the stuff I normally do and going for simplicity; here's my four shots.
sorry ,I missed your process shots....not so keen on #1 but loving #2....really tells a story , great set up...super stuff as I've come to expect from you
But I have to say your 1st image for Rock is fabulous....simplicity & minimalistic , great detail .... Only possible crit would be the water/sky/tree line....maybe....
Stone shot is also fab...great lighting ,mono works a treat
of the beach ones a tough choice there mate... I too like the shot with the sky, but the rock's DoF is deeper in the second and the minimal colour is also very pleasing - so i'm going for a draw
that's a lovely pair of shrooms......you've caught great detail in the furthest one ,the green contrasts well with their color....just wish you'd got the front one in focus & the rear one off...maybe ?
Another one on the ball with this week's theme
Really do like that, but agree with Lynne's comment on the front one being in focus.
And I can't come in here without commenting on your rock pics.
The last B&W one (no.4 in that post) is stunning IMO. Really interesting shaped stone, love the shadow and lighting and the B&W has really brought out the tones and textures.
The beach shot comes a very close second for me, for reasons already stated and rock'n'roll made me . Very Clever.
Rock, the 3rd shot is my favourite, great lighting makes it very striking.
Rock n Roll made me laugh very creative.
Pair.... Interesting take on the theme, but I think I'd like this more if it were in colour. Also the comp. is not working 100% for me, probably too central.
Well done on your PP in creating this shot though.
Hi...sorry it's taken me so long to comment...trying to catch up now :bonk:
Came to look at your page and haven't you been busy
Too many to comment on individually but I am amazed at the creativity and the amount of work that has obviously gone into each one
Thank you all. I've not really been happy with any if the pair ones so far, and I agree with all the criticisms. I have knocked off my last idea for Pair and this one I'm happy with.
'Ello, Tony, of the 4 Rocks it's the simplicity of #1 for me. I do like minimal slightly deeper DOF so all the rock was in focus is only crit. Although, I do like #4, central placement and the complementary surface work well together.
Lovely greens in Pair #2, shame about the problematic grass leading to OOF 'shroom.
Pair #2' I almost typed, "I don't get it!", then I got it :bonk: like it. There is a similar one in this weeks AP magazine, without the pun, though
Pair #3 yeah, been there. Nice processing and flames. Doesn't matter about the clipped flame....
Pair - That last one with the burning pictures is great, the flames look very good and the idea is as imaginative as usual
Shape - Hmmmmm... a cracking set, I really like the sticks and the vignette and frame used, the last one, the 'Pod' looks alien, excellent DoF with the spikes showing up nicely... but for me the processing on the second image is great, love the composition and I'd certainly hang that on my wall
This isn't my main Plenty shot but I was climbing down a cliff to do a photoshoot (long story) when I saw them and couldn't resist. Any issues with technique are to do with hanging off the cliff with one hand and taking a macro shot with the other.
