Hello Everyone,
I've recently drum scanned a few frames that I wish to get printed big. The scans themselves were all done a 3200 ppi on an Imacon however I'm still somewhat new to the scanning process so some things confuse me.
The dimensions of the scan are very small despite the high resolution (I may be stumbling with the technicalities here). Currently, the way I've been "enlarging" is to crop the file at the size I wish to print which is 40 inches by 30 inches and at 300 ppi (or is it dpi now? :bonk
. Is this the most efficient way of doing it? I don't want to be throwing away useful detail or tonality if I can help it.
Another point I wish to address is sharpening, currently I think I'll do a bit of tweaking with Smart Sharpen and see where I get. I did try to use Nik Sharpener but thought the results were "interesting". I think the main problem is that there is no option for the output source which in my case will be a digital C-Type printer (no point in optimising for an inkjet!).
Is there any right way of doing all of this?
