hi guys and girls I'm a little stuck here i currently got made redundant but in less then a week found another job all going well but to be honest i don't want to be there for ever

so I'm looking at retraining but 1st i need to re sit my maths and english so i can get c and above

i went to learn direct but it turns out they have stopped doing the nighttime courses and you must sit a 2 week course which is no good to me

is there any where i can re sit these 2 courses and then train further from there

Have you tried your local high school? I did an extra gcse during an evening course over a year. Was a long time ago though....

just found one for hull college but want english and maths .30
yeah didn't want to do a years course though i hate english as it is and maths lol

plus it does not start till september and I'm away the too lol

learn direct use to do a night time course where you did most of it at home in-between you did mock exams if you was happy they sent you in for a main test as they would roughly know what grade you should get but they have stopped that now

Go on your local authority website, they will have an adult education section

thanks sarah will take a look at that later on the home learning is what i want to do , would prefer one with text books or similar so i can study on breaks at work

but no essential

I don't know anyone who's done GCSEs through them - the people I know have either done an accountancy qualification or a degree - but I guess they probably operate the same way for whichever course you take.
They've had all the text books delivered to them, then at certain points in the course they send an assignment off to be marked by a tutor to see how they're progressing. I believe there's also a telephone helpline through to a tutor if you need a bit of one-to-one tuition on any particular point.

one point are you sure you need to retake the GCSEs ? - a lot of further ed courses that require that for 16 year old are more flexible with mature students as they have equivalent life experience.

Amongst other things I'm an exam invigilator,GCSEs start next week, come and sit them up here ,bung me a few quid and I'll turn a blind eye to any hidden literature you may have about your person ;). (shhh, you didn't read that, right ?)

from what i can gather most employers want you to have gcse grades c or above i don't have either and some courses with collage require the same thing
