wondered what peoples thoughts are on these.. i did have one before but never actually got a chance to use it as sold the canon gera i had at the time for a Fuji kit.
now im back with canon and have the 18-135, nifty 50 and sigma apo DG 70-300 im wondering if its worth getting a raynox again as theres no way i could afford a dedicated true 1:1 macro and as i recently killed my sigma when the extnsion tubes i had snapped sending the lens to the ground the only affordable options are the raynox or screw on macro filters ( which seem to be pretty rubbish ).
looked around and oddly the raynox seems quite hard to get at a senisble price ( i paid £32 new last time ). ebay has them for around £45 and only other place ive seen them is amazon at £38.

moneys tight so its a difficult decision even spending that small amount ( unless someone has one gathering dust they are looking to sell). just wonder is it relly worth me getting one or just stick with the mcro option on the sigma and manage the best i can with it?

I use a Raynox 250 with my macro lens sometimes when i want a huge image / detail on the sensor and i wouldn't be without it. For the money they are great value imo as optically i can't fault them.

I have one I might be looking to sell as don't really use it.

If you are interested I can post it in the classifieds.

Would probably be looking for £25

i may def be tempted, but im wondering if a raynox 150 may be good enough as though not as powerful is a little more forgiving when it comes to amount of DOF.. plus i can pick up a 150 for under a tenner

Are the Raynox ok to use with a macro lens? Can I mount his on a nikon 105mm?

Under a tenner for a 150 - I'd love to get one for that - would you share where?

damianmkv, thanks for this info, what I meant was are they useable with a macro lens, rather than a normal lens?

I don't have a macro lens but I've seen good results from using both. The only thing about a raynox is the depth of field of quite small so they take a bit of practise

i started out using a raynox 150 but now i have a macro lens (although only the 50mm sigma) i have not used my raynox since but when i was using it they are very good for the price

i may list it on classifieds if someone would be interested for maybe £20 posted

If you were to list for that price I would take it straight away - let me know?

I've used my Raynox 250 a few times with my Canon 100 f2.8L macro and got some great results but I did notice some distortion at the outer edges of the image on occasions. If Copps1991 lists his in the classifieds for £20 someone is going to grab a bargain.

Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the DCR 250 that I just received.
I am seeing a black ring around the image, and I don't know if I am just not doing it right, or if there is something else I need etc.
The ring looks what you'd see on the telephoto shot. The camera I use is Fuji HS50EXR.

Any help appreciated.
Shawn

raynox works better on longer focal length . what your seeing is probabaly becuase you are shooting at maybe the 24mm end is essentially vignetting ( much like you would get with a filter ) as at 24mm the angle of view is wider its catching the inner edges of the raynox.
try at 100mm or beyind and see if it goes away and adjust until you find the minimum usuable focal distance
