Not used the 250 but got the 150 which is a little less powerful and easier to use ( depth of field not as shallow and can be used further away from the subject).
If macro is your thing then I highly recommend one.

Yes, I use mine on a 70-200 f4 IS and it is very good. I'm not really into macro work so didn't want to spend lots on a dedicated macro lens. Couple of examples

Yes I am not into Macro much but it would be good to get something cheap as chips to mess about with occasionally...

For the price vs a dedicated macro lens, it is a no brainer IMHO. Produces very good results with a decent lens underneath it.

I've used both the 250 and the 150.

IMVHO the 250 gives too much magnification, I prefer the 150.
