Am considering this for macro shots such as flowers etc. Does it just screw onto the kit lens (18-55)? Is it any good?

Hi Charlene,
Brought a raynox rc250 about a month ago, great bit of kit, it just clips on the lens using the same system as your lens caps. you will have to play a while to get the hang of focusing, better to move camera to refine. sure that you will not be disappointed if you get one, have fun.

On the 18-55 it will work fine over 50mm.
Under that and it will vignette.

The Raynox is a great piece of kit for the price. As said above, it is easier to focus by moving the camera to obtain AF lock.
The good thing as well is if you get a longer lens in the future it will work with that too (providing the thread size is 67mm or less)
I have mine permanently strapped to the 70-200 and it produces some astounding results.

Hi...I have a 55-250 lens, would the Raynox be better on that?

Defo, you will get 1:1 reproduction at around 100mm

The sample images below are what I took on the 70-200 to give you an idea.
The first one is a coriander leaf about the size of a 5p. the second one is a cat's claw and the third one a fake feather of a cat toy - the individual hairs on the main stem measure approx 1mm in length.
