Howdy

I want to buy one of these rayflash adapters but currently I only have a YN460-II and YN465. Has anyone used one with a yongnuo flash?

I've had a google but couldn't find anything

Ideas guys?

Just seen this on their site.. :p

"Camera & flash combination other than Canon & Nikon : To establish which model is best suited for a particular combination the distance between optical axis and the middle of the flash units reflector needs to be measured. This measurement will allow the user to find the best match with a RAY FLASH"

Ignore me. I'll edit this post later once I've measured.

they're fairly light on power and heavy on recycle compared to top end brand stuff

makes them real nice hair/separation lights but in a rayflash you lose a lot of power and really need it

I've just measured and I make it about 165/170 mm from the centre of my 24-70 to the centre of flash on my 40D.

When the flash is straight out its abit over 170. I think I'm going to go for the RAC170-2.

"RAC170-2 Canon 580EX II &5D MKII,5D,40D,30D,20D,10D"

Do you reckon that will be too big? I think I need to find somewhere that stocks it in store and try really..

Fair Point David. I understand I'm going to lose light but this is purely for fun/testing.

Should I love it then maybe I can justify the cost for the 'real deal' :p

i bought the Coco and thats pretty good though its clear that its cheaper, as flash says, avoid O flash.

The Coco-type ones disappeared off Ebay pretty quickly, which made me wonder if there was a copyright issue with them...

not sure if there was a copyright issue, i picked mine up just in the last couple of weeks - the chinese manufacturers who dont follow copyright laws never seem too bothered about anything. Im waiting for my stigma to come back from rechipping before giving it a proper go but initial tests of the dogs seem to show pretty good even lighting from it

Ebay are very strict now when it comes to copyright infringement, if the owner (or even someone who claims to be the copyright owner) complains then they'll pull the listings. Doesn't mean the Chinese will stop making/selling them, just that they won't appear on Ebay.

hmm well ive tried reporting copies of some of my companies stuff and they havent pulled it...the bastids..not sure what patents there are on the rayflash, might have to look into that to satisfy my curiosity
