Had a search on the forums but couldnt find the answer so apologies if I missed it somehow.
I recently bought the 6d. I normally used Dpp and then cs6 before, but am trying to move away from this and learn Lightroom 3 and then onto cs6.
Canons Dpp will open the raw files from the 6d but Lightroom and Cs6 will not.I downloaded the raw update but the two programs still won't open the raws.So I have been downloading the raws onto my desktop then converting them to dng with the adobe app. Then deleting the raws and importing the dng's into lightroom processing and then into Cs6 to play with.Just seems so long winded and I am ending up with lots of files. Eg. 1x dng 1xpsd 1x jpeg and if posting onto forums 1x small res jpeg.

I waffled sorry about that__In short is there a way to import my files straight into Lightroom without converting to DNG.

Gaz

ps: Just read Lightroom 3 will not support 6d files but Cs6 should.

Have you tried going to Help>Updates in CS6?

The 6D RAW file compatibility was included in the v7.3 update to ACR, and should update automatically. Unfortunately from v7.2 onwards I don't think it is possible to download the ACR update separate from the program to install.

If for some reason that doesn't happen, then get in touch with Adobe. If that is not possible ;) then you have to go the DNG route.

Thank you.Is there any downside tousing the dng route, ie is it extactly the same as the raw file captured? I am taking it you would delete the raw after converstion.

I would not delete RAWs under any circumstances. You may need them at a later date, and storage is now really cheap.

Thanks all stuck with the dng way at the mo.
