Raw vs Ken Rockwell, what should I be doing ?

I do it when I'm shooting for the paper and need to send fast. Take the jpeg's off the card and send, then I keep the RAW files.

Same principle as why I do it at events. JPG for quick WiFi transfer for instant printing, keep the RAWs for the future.

I shoot RAW & small JPG - it's personal preference, I expect everyone else uses whatever file format is good for them too.

Shoot in whatever format you want to and go with it.

Don't know a great deal about editing software, I went straight to Photoshop/Lightroom although both are really good if I had to have just one it'd be Lightroom.

New York's great, spend your time taking it all in and getting some good memories captured. Don't worry about what file format you're using or rely of PP to rescue everything, use what you know to get a good shot in the first place, trust your abilities and you may surprise yourself.

I shoot raw. I'll stop, and start using jpeg, the day that I can guarantee getting the camera settings totally perfect every time. And the first jpeg I'll shoot will be of the squadrons of pigs flying past.

I'm off to Cornwall in 6 weeks and i'll be shooting raw+jpeg(large).
Sorting the files out when i get back will be a headache but at least i will have backup of raw.
