Raw preview in bridge

Hi guys/gals.

Just upgraded to a D90 from a D60.

Had to update my CS3 raw converter as it wasn't recognising RAW.

Now I have cracked the opening of the files I have realised that I am unable to see a preview of the shot in bridge.

Not really an issue when shooting RAW+JPEG but when just RAW I have to open each one up just to see them, obviously wasting a fair bit of time.

Anyone help?

I would think that the D90 RAW file is to new for CS3 to recognise, think you would have to upgrade to CS4 in order to see them in Bridge.

As CS3 will no longer be supported by Adobe not sure if you could get around this other then downloading Adobe free DNG converter, which might work, but then you would have RAW + JPEG and Adobe DNG files.

have you checked if there is an update to bridge for cs3 in cs3 go help update to see if any are available

I can double click and open the RAW .nef files in bridge and it opens the converter as it did with my D60 files.

Only difference is I don't know which I'm opening.

The solution is to shoot RAW + JPEG then, not too much of a pain.

have you checked if there is an update to bridge for cs3 in cs3 go help update to see if any are available

Will check that tomorrow when I'm back on my laptop, cheers for the suggestion.

Nothing I have tried seemed to work to solve the problem within bridge.

However after reading threads with a similar problem I decided to install 'fast picture viewer'

http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/

For those that havent used it, you cant tell it is on your pc and enables all raw files to be viewed within your normal windows explorer.

You can then right click within there and force them to open in photoshop and alter the raw file.

This means I will stop using bridge when shooting in raw only, apart from when I want to quickly view exif data of the snaps.

I have been looking for something like that to save shooting RAW + jpeg.

I resorted to installing Nikon ViewNX so that I could immediately view the jpeg imbedded in the RAW files, but it really is a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

I just want to know what pic is in the RAW file then edit with PSE7.
