RAW conversion ?

I took some shots in RAW yesterday on my 40D, i have used canons D&P to do a slight edit, but now the file is just showing on my desktop as a CR2 IMG.

What do i need to do next ?

I have tried a raw to jpeg conversion but the image is poor, all the colour etc has gone and they just look washed out ?.

Any help would be great. :thumbs:
 
I use dpp a lot more than anything else, I tend to do my adjustment and then go to convert and save, have to say once I've edited I've not noticed any difference between the 2 images
 
I only do minimal editing but mostly in DPP. It can make a big difference.
First I set the white balance settings, daylight/cloudy etc
Adjust picture style, Landscape/Portrait etc
Then i adjust the levels Usually the left slider to increase shadows, I fine the right hand slider blows everything.
Then I generally sharpen and leave it at that before converting to jpeg.
