I cant get an action to work for converting my raws to jpeg, I understood it that I could record an action of me editing a raw file, applying sharpening etc, then opening it from ACR to CS3 before converting to SRGB & saving. I have made the action loads of times, but when I run it on a folder it goes through the whole process before saying sorry I could not process files, it then lists all the files in the folder. I end up with a folder full of the same j peg that I converted while recording the action in the first place:thinking:

It is probably something stupid I have missed out but what:shrug::bang:

Raw or jpeg? how are you trying to open them from bridge or from photoshop?

Hi Wayne
I have been opening photoshop & setting it to record an action in the actions pallete, then I have been opening a raw file (nikon nef) which launches adobe camera raw, I have then edited the jpeg as needed before opening the image into photoshop, from here I converted to SRGB & saved as a j peg. I then tried to use this action on all the images in the folder (all studio shots so same lighting etc) but it goes through the whole of the folder but the images show as a transparent layer (grey cheq), when it has run it says it couldnt process the files. I then end up with a new folder in my original raw folder, called j pegs, this then just has the same image I recorded the action with lots of times.

The way I would do it is to select all the RAW files in Bridge, and the right click on the selected images to open in Photoshop. This will open all RAW files at the same time in ACR with all the files in a scrollable panel down the left. You can choose to select all, and then any edits, such as WB, sharpen whatever, will be applied to all the files almost instantly. Then you can choose your resolution and colorspace, and then save as a Jpeg in the folder and at the quality of your choosing.

If you feel you may use the settings again, (I always put sharpen, noise reduction and camera distortion correction before I do any other editing) then any setting(s) can be save as a preset and used on one or multiple selected files.

I hope that helps and that's what you want to do. ;)
