Hello.

Would any Canon shooters (or other) like to have a bash at getting something out of a raw image for me.
I keep trying to get it right but balancing shadows/highlights/colour is troubling me.

I have nowhere to host a full size raw file but can mail a copy to anyone willing to have a go.

Cropping is ok if needed.

Hello again.

I mailed the raw file to you.
Can you let me know if you got it?

Well, not what I was expecting......for some reason, in my mind, I had pictured ducks on the village pond! This was much more interesting :)
Actually I find this really difficult and I'm not sure I've made the things any better........
I am sure Kodiak will help you more and have a much more subtle approach but here's my best effort:

Thanks for that.
The crop is good and makes the shot a bit more interesting. Now I look at it, I think the problem is no background separation. That and the fact the shutter speed was too high.
Any way of enhancing the heat haze from the engine?

Also would it be possible for you to mail the file to Kodiak on my behalf?
As I said, the image has no commercial value to me.

Here's my attempt Tony, I cropped your shot then added a bit of contrast, adjusted the white balance using Canons Digital Photo Professional software then added a 10% Skylight filter using the Nik Collection. I didn't want to crop it any tighter as I feel it looks less like its flying for some reason but that might just be me :)

Well you did better than me but the plane does not stand out from the background very well.
I guess they're designed not to be easily spotted.
Thanks for trying.

I'm having problems with my home computer so, for the short term, I apologise to those who requested a raw file.
Those who have the file can feel free to distribute it within the forum.

Good efforts
Thanks all.

I'm really thinking the picture has nothing more to give.

The key to these shots as has been said already is to showcase the essence of speed. The original makes the plane look too static.

However with a little layering and fettling in Photoshop it is possible to give a convincing hint of speed by adding a motion blur to the back ground.

Its not the tidiest of edits but the Jpeg file is small. The RAW file will offer more room to edit cleanly the sharp lines of the plane when separating it into a separate layer..

Here's my suggestion though just to show what can be done.
