Anyone else got one and is playing arround with it?

I've currently got mine using openelec and acting as a video streaming device from my NAS. I'm planning a mini clould type storage server with me next one, so i can back up my pictures when i'm out.

Had mine for a long while now and run raspbmc to stream ketchup telly and movies from my NAS. It has its quirks but it does the job.

Ian.

I've only recently dug it out as my bro was asking for some server stuff to be set up.

I really like openelec, been using my phone as the remote is good too :)

I use it for robotics projects, currently working on using the GPIO pins to drive a hard drive motor with shift registers.

:)

been looking for a replacement to my doomed Popcornhour, and although am tempted by the android boxes floating around at the minute, the majority seem pretty overpriced and come with shaky reviews. This led me to look at the model B Pi running openelec or raspbmc xbmc front end(openelec looks to be the faster of the two from what I have seen). Kind of torn between the pi or a smart dock for my Note 2 :)

The Pi is seriously cobbled if you want to run full HD videos with DTS audio... The hardware is capable, just the codecs aren't licensed and the CPU doesn't have enough grunt.

Or at least it was last time I looked....

DTS passthrough is fine for me as I have a receiver that will handle that side of things, just can't make my mind up :)

Oooohh..... Get you ;) :D

We have a couple, 1 is hooked up to the network as a media streamer using RaspberryBMC, tried a few other os's and they all play movies ok but it doesn't seem to have the memory to be able to buffer enough to fast forward or rewind, pause is ok though.
The other one my lad uses to learn a bi of python programming.

Setting mine up tonight as an Onion Pi.....basically a separate tor-anonymised wireless network....not that i have anything of interest on my connection but it's just nice to know it's there :)

Mine runs as a secure wifi ap for my home office and hosts a few old 2.5" drives as well.

Quite fancy hooking one of the new cam units onto it so I can watch the garden out of the office window when I am else where.
