Raspberry pi anyone?

The wrong network jack? Shame they didn't put 8GB fibre connection on it :)

I was thinking it could be quite good for archiving copies of photos off a memory card onto something else.

Looking forward to it,

Fish tank and lift control programs already compiled :)

You've got your own lift?

Might have to get me one of these, you could build all sorts of geeky things with it, and there was me thinking an Arduino was cool.

Order a while ago not sure if I am in the first batch or will have to wait longer.

Haven't a clue of what, how or when I'm going to actually use it.

Likewise, I was thinking if I could put Android on it, link it to a 3" screen I have and via usb to my phone I could make a kind of a 'smart' phone? dunno if there would be a call for it though.

not sure why i need one, but i do, im on the waiting list for one when they get stock at farnell

i was thinking of just using it as a link between vids and pics on a memory card and the tv.

plus i wish to experiment with "what the hell can i put a computer into"

modmypi are doing a cheap case for it. WIll be getting a black or white one when my order ships.

It was intentional of course...cough..

Got to place an order for my new smartphone..erm..Raspberry Pi today :D still have to wait three weeks or so for delivery though :(

Well I've had mine for about 2 weeks now (and the one that was delivered here for my workmate in Finland) - it's fun stuff... apart from constantly reimaging the SD card for the next experiment I set it in.

Biggest pain so far - finding a USB WLAN adaptor that
(a) claims to work with Linux
(b) actually works with Linux
(c) claims to work with ARM processor
(d) actually does work with ARM processor and
(e) both (b) & (d)

Luckily I found one :) Happy days.

Got my email from Radio Spares yesterday, ordered one today. YAY!

Well don't keep it to yourself, which one works?

It's an ancient one - glue & go based on a ZD1211 (now an Atheros 5007 I think) - lots of others that allegedly work (like the Netgear WG111v2) - the non-radio side was no problem at all but would it scan, would it <bleep>

Must been through about a dozen from my goodies box to get to that one.

Ah, cheers, well I've got a couple of old ones floating around too so fingers crossed.

Happy days, have a netgear wg111v2 flowing about somewhere. Just need my pi to arrive.

I'm waiting for my Pi too, already have the custard :D

I too have one - I'm by no means a Linux n00b - and whilst I could get the USB side working (ie. query the interface, see the MAC, etc), the radio side not so much (couldn't even get it to scan for networks) - it could be a lack of supplied power I guess...

Yes..

My raspberry Pi has been shipped :)

Mine is in transit. Just need to organise a case now or build a Lego one

I didn't get my shipping notification today, although I paid for it a week ago. Soon, I hope.

No shipping for me yet either.

Darkman check the rpi forums, there are some great ideas for diy cases on there (excluding the cheese pot).

I put my order in weeks ago and heard nothing ! Time to chase them up !

Has anyone done anything useful with them? Lots seem to have got them for xbmc - anyone tried it and any comments on ful HD playback with DTS audio? Does it handle changing framerates on TVs properly?

I do have a project in mind, an astrocam. Using the RPi + a 4.3" screen if possible + usb webcam all in one unit.

Has anyone done anything useful with them?

I'm getting one to replace my local SMTP / IMAP / HTTP / MYSQL / SVN server. Going from a full tower 667MHz Pentium 3 to one of these should make it faster, quieter, much smaller and use a lot less electrickery. And also not leave me with a problem replacing CPU fans when they fail, since my stock of coolers for that socket type is now exhausted.

My Pi has arrived...

Now to upload it with my custom program

Lift control and fish tank management :)

I'll have to put a bigger and faster card in it, but working from the command line, its all fine :)

Mine arrived today aswell. I will probably have a play tomorrow. I have 550+ photos to sort through tonight :)

I didn't think it was possible for anything to be more dusty than my house, but you seem to have managed it!

No sign of my pi yet.
