Hi peeps - been ages since I posted on here.

Just a quick question.

Presuming my camera was set on a certain shutter speed (eg 1/250) and aperture set, what factors would influence how many pics I could shoot in succession ?

I have a D50 and can get about 9 RAW files in quick fire (continuous mode). This is using a SANDSK Ultra II card. Would a better memory card - (extreme 3) make any difference ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Anth.

PS - I know I could get more if I shot JPG but would like to stick with RAW.

Its determined by the buffer size of your camera, which unfortunately can't be changed(Not without some supreme soldering and microprocessor skills anyway) The only way to get more, would be to change the camera im afraid.

It's not so much the size of the buffer but the rate at which it can be flushed to the card which will determine the number of consecutive shots. A faster card will help but each model of camera can only write data out at a set rate, some will benefit from fast cards some won't.

Check out the CF database at robgalbraith.com for some proper numbers.
