He works part time so that is something but claims as much as he can from the government. again he is allowed to (not i said allowed) on top of this he just got him and his wife new iphone 5's and yet another new 3D TV. oh did i say about the new ipads they both have..

cheeky git has just knocked my door can i lend him £100 till the end of the month saying some money hasn't gone in and he can't go shopping for food tomorrow. so on top of "us" indirectly paying for all his stuff he now wants me to feed his kids.. who look like they came out of the poor house.. :bonk::bang: sorry he is a fat use less git how needs a slap.

P.S. no i didn't give him any money.

Oh I hear ya.
We both work, and lately both work bloody hard, now we're not great ones for gadgetry (not a word methinks)....we both have a PC (mine only gets turned on when I have photos to edit), and we have a laptop which is what I use the most, and we both have pretty crappy phones, and that's it. No games consoles, no tablets, no mp3 players.....we live in the dark ages
We have one LCD TV in the lounge (smallish in the grand scheme of things - 37ins), and one one the bedroom wall (26ins), and that's it.
Our stereo is one that has a dodgy CD player but we use most for vinyl, and I have a Kindle.

His brother hasn't worked a day in his life....nor has his wife and don't even get me started on thier son. But they have every console (2 of some), a 50ins tv, a 47ins tv, 3 top snot PCs 2 laptops etc etc etc. All bought on the back of benefits. Really grinds my gears.

Rant over

It is amazing how much money you can actually get if you know how to claim for it.

14 years ago Before my dad dies aged 57 he was working in a joiners shop as a forman. he was bring home ofter off takes £276 per week for a 39 hour week.

When he took ill with asbestosis he was terminally ill, so he could claim for quite a bit, now my mam kept working her part time job so he could not claim for her and a few other bits and bob he did not bother with but he used to pick up £268 per week from the post office in allowances in capsity benefit etc.
Now he gave £30 of it back as he had a brand new car stood outside the door disabilty.
So all in all he was £38 per week worse off for sitting on his arse doing nowt with a brand new car stood outside which he had never had in all his life.

Ok he was a genuine case but if he could claim then so can anyone with a bit of know how

So why work 39 hours a week when you can get the same off the state

Tell him he can have the money, but you want his iphone5 as security until he pays you back , and if he defaults by even a day you get to keep the phone

An (ex) friend of mine used to holiday in Aya napa (sp?) at least 3 times a year, yet still kept begging people for £100 here, £200 there to pay for the rent and food. I know one person lent her about £200 and it ended up about 6 months later with him starting legal action to get it back...

Someone I know struggles a lot in the last week of a month. Borrowing, using wonga, yet through the month spends at costa for coffee and cake. Plus he spends up to £100 on a first date.

i know a guy who has a a crappy old car and is still paying off the loan used to buy it 4 years ago, but who spends loads of cash on second hand camera gear he doesnt really need, what a twa...... no, wait a minuite, that's me

It's very sad when genuine people are struggling yet other people seem to be able to milk the system and get away with it.

My son has worked for an agency for the last 18+ months. They finished for Christmas shut down the week before Christmas and the work has now dried up and he's done 1 day's work since then. They've both applied for numerous jobs but, him and his girlfriend are really struggling and he's desperate not to have to sign on again. If they do, he'll get £50 a week to live off.

The system's not fair for those that actually genuinely want to work.

Agreed. My oh was out of work for 8 months and the system was a complete farce.

Long and short of it was they scrapped her job seekers because I should have been able to support both of us (without actually looking at my finances and seeing I had about £50 a month spare).

It's a complete failure for those that actually need it, but its somehow also a spongers dream..

I am in the same situation Neil. My OH is working and I am unemployed (have been since last July). I apply for several jobs each day, have had no replies/interviews since last July.
Because my OH works full time, we receive NO benefits of any kind, despite the fact that our savings have been used up and we are o/d each month. We have a mortgage to pay and we have to find £240 a month for my OH's travel expenses - so that she can get to work.
Contrast this with the following examples which I know about.

A mate's daughter got pregnant at 15 (she is now 18). She has a fully furnished flat with all life's luxuries, she now has two children, and the father of the kids regularly stops over - he is not paying anything. She has never worked in her life

About four years ago, what I thought were luxury flats were built nearby, with a nice river view. It turns out that these were social housing. Four years later man y of these places have been trashed, and the police regularly visit, along with DWP and social services.

So, I started work in 1975, and it all started to go wrong when I became ill in 2004. Since then I have relied on temporary/contract work, which now seems to have dried up.

So, where did all my tax and NI go if I am not getting anything back?

Yet as soon as the government start mentioning capping benefits or making people go out to work it's all cries of 'unfair' and 'infringement of civil liberties' and 'think of the children'.

my feeling is that forcing them to work for their money is fine - but it should be community or society work which otherwise isnt getting done. Making the unemployed work for 2 weeks at a time in poundland/tesco etc - doesnt give them any useful skills or experience, and means that the shops get cheap labour without havving to employ someone thus depressing the job market

But this person tries to borrow money for food and dresses their kids like they are from the poor house. Its doesn't sound like they have too much money, more they are f***** selfish and haven't a clue how to manage things.

Since leaving college i've always worked, when my wife passed and i brought my 2 young daughters up on my own i tried for the first time in my life to see if i could claim anything to help me manage, i was told i was entitled to £7 a week in benefits, i told them to stick it and managed to get through it on my own.

I've always said it, if your a honest law abiding citizen you get nothing, but if you're a lying cheating so and so you get no end of help.

/rant over.

Pity the Mail and its apologist never aim their witch-hunts at tax dodgers. Take Lord Rothermere. Inherited over a billion, paid no tax on it because he's 'non-domiciled' despite owning a real mansion, not a big council house, in 220 acres of Wiltshire. Why does he pay no tax? He's a good mate of Cameron for one thing. And he just happens to own the Daily Mail (salary + benefits: over £500,000).

I don't know if he owns a horse.

I was going to reply to this thread with a whole load of info but I have not got time as I have to make the post office to collect my giro :)

No he is just a fat waste of space that is in starbucks most days. He will justify his "stuff" saying he works for it. his kids well the poor buggers get sod all. and the £100 was more than likely to buy games for his new PS4..

sorry but you have to know this useless waste of space honest.. I have my D90 he then went a got a bridge camera because it was newer and better than mine his words not mine. honest he is a:bang::bang::bang:

Yes he makes my blood boil but he isn't the only one i see and it is doing my head in. Hubby left on sunday for another 12 weeks away yet i see all this and want to scream.
Rant over (for now)

What's cancer got to do with her having 11 kids?

Just exemplifies the vileness of the story. She's one of a tiny number of people who have lots of kids - so what? But she's made out to be responsible for all the ills of society. Rothermere, tax-dodging multi-millionaire who is responsible for the attack on her, has done infinitely more damage to the country. If he paid his fair share of tax, perhaps she'd have got a decent education for a start.

Bullying a cancer victim? Very nice.

And what about the cancer victims that can't afford to eat or keep the heating on but don't get any help from the government but allow people like her to abuse the system? She been far from bullied. She's got a nice brand new house being built she can afford horses and flying lessons and god knows what else.

She's not been bullied at all she's just suffering the backlash from a society that is sick of people like her sucking the nation dry.

So how come most of us have had a decent education? If she had kept her legs shut and not had 11 kids then maybe other people could have a better eductaion.

Many millions of people have cancer. Its not about bullying a cancer victim. She happened to have cancer. There are people who have lost children, lost parents while they were children, lost loved ones, suffered life changing injuries (like 7/7 bomb victims) who manage to not drain the system.

1/ Can you link to these cancer victims who can't afford to eat or keep the heating on please?

2/ Do you think getting billionaires to pay some tax may help here?

3/What is your definition of bullying?

but on the other hand there are lots of people who've had cancer who have jobs and are paying tax and don't expect the state to owe them a living.

she says " I'd love to work, i was going to open my own business but then 2 years ago i got cancer "

well thats all very tragic - but whats stopping her from opening the business now ? (and don't say the recession - 2 years ago we were recessing worse than we are now)

or come to that her partner could get off his arse and do some work - or the three older kids could get some work and pay their way

Of course the next argument advanced is " oh but there isnt any bwork for people like them" - but i'm sorry that doesnt hold water , especially in tewksbury, glos - its not exactly an impoverished area.

I have a freind who's a warehouse manager for a major company - last xmas he had temp jobs going at £13/hour for pick and pack jobs (which require very litle other than you actually want to work) but despite offering nearly twice minimum wage he still had jobs going unfilled, and a lot of the halfwits he did get only wanted to skive and had no idea how to graft.

Of course tax evasion by the rich is also an issue - but is not an either or - rich barstewards should stop evading tax and pay their share, and idle shiftless ******s should get off their arse and stop sucking off benefits (note that i'm not saying everyone on benefits is a parasite - there are many deserved cases who either can't work through disability, or are trying their very best to find work but havent yet)

The tax dodgers need the same treatment. Both groups are as bad as each other.

1 no it's stories we read and hear about all the time. Same as the poor guy that lives two doors down who lost both his legs to cancer and is still having treatment but the council haven't got the money to build his ramp to get his wheel chair in his house till next April. It's £600 to get it built but they can't afford it. Not surprised when breeders like her are sucking the state bone dry. So me and a neighbour paid for it.

As for billionaire tax dodgers if you want a debate on that start you own thread.

As for what is classed as a bully well maybe someone who denies someone else of something they need to survive. This woman hasn't been denied anything so is not a victim ergo not bullied.

If she's so keen to work, but can't find paid employment, why not do some voluntary work?
