Thought I'd take up a new hobby, so went on my first ever ramble today :geek: with all the erm, more senior (trying to be polite ;) ) people belonging to the local Ramblers Association. Had to say, I loved every minute if it (all 9.2 miles), although the backs of my ankles are somewhat annihilated. Thank goodness for Compeed :)

Does anyone else go walking / rambling / hiking?

i do go for the odd walk round wales and the peaks, but if anyone ever calls me a rambler i'll throw my bobble hat at them ;)

I hope you've got a good set of boots.

You'll get some great ops for landscapes

I've also been on the end of lots of abuse from potty old ramblers while on the trails.....If i'm out on my mtb they seem to think they own the country side.

I used to walk quite regularly, though was never a part of a club.
Im feeling pretty unfit at the mo & really need to do something about it.
Its a pity youre so far away Cheryl, Id grab my staff & my boots & join you.
Good luck with it.

We do from time to time, and lots when we're on holiday! Haven't ever joined anything organised to do it though, although that might be a good idea as perhaps it's motivate us to get out more....!

Used to do a fair bit but not recently. A group of us from work are going for a weekend of walking in Shropshire. in 3 weeks, just hop[ing my legs will hold out.:)

That's the idea - I really can't muster any enthusiasm to go walking on my own (plus issues about safety), and Dave isn't in the slightest bit interested, so I thought I'd join some like minded people, who I have to say, were extremely welcoming. Once my heels have grown back, I'll be going again :D

Min, you need a good pair of walking socks ;)

If Dave isn't interested, he's missing out :(

Nothing better than getting to the top of a peak and taking in the view, not a car or trace of city life and breathing the fresh air

I have good walking socks... and shoes. I spent £170 in Millets the other day buying socks, shoes and trousers  I just need to walk my shoes in a little more I guess

I hope there's a picture of you in all this rambling get up about to hit the thread :)

Used to do loads when I was younger.

Am going to Austria for a predominantly walking holiday this month. Have new lightweight boots but they are the same make as my leather ones so aren't anticipating any problems.

Can't wait to get out there with my camera.

Where did you go?

Andrea

We just did a 9 mile circular walk around Sherborne St John and it's surrounding villages in Hampshire.

Sorry DF - no pics :p
