Good afternoon,

As I'm not techy it's a question about RAM.

Is something like the 16GB HyperX FURY DDR4 2133MHz (2x8GB) rather than Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz perfectly fine for PS and LR, is the 3000MHz overkill for photo editing?

Thanks

If it's truly a question about RAM then you can never have enough!

If it's about processing power and RAM, what's overkill today will certainly not be enough in 3 years time - just my observation over the last decade ;)

Thanks Barry that's very true, the cost is negligable anyway.

AFAIK unless your motherboard supports either of those "speeds" you will be under clocking the RAM. No harm in that and of course could come in handy for a motherboard upgrade in due course.

Unless Adobe go gamey high speed ram is just not needed. FWIW I had a RAM failure and got new Crucial Ballistics but because my motherboard cannot run them at full speed it matters not :)

Both will be fine - just make sure that both are compatible with the rest of your system at the clock speed you wish to use..

In general use eg image editing you will not notice the difference between RAM modules of different speed ratings.

High speed ram is for gaming. Photoshop won't tell the difference.

Unless you have a 'z' motherboard it will run at default 2133 anyway.
