Rally question

According to my family it depends where the flash is directed (husband drives, daughter in the left seat) Not straight in their eyes as they are setting up a corner! Most night pics are taken with flash and don't cause a problem...unless the crew need a reason ;)

Enjoy the Pirelli

I used to drive, and flashes that were aimed right at you were dangerous especially when you are setting up for a bend. Most responsible toggers placed a card fifty or so meters away from their position with the word 'FLASH' large enough for the driver to see.
Not having been involved in the sport for many years now, I dont know if this is still done, but as a driver I found it usefull to have that warning in advance.

I cant ever remember seing placards all over the place on the RAC, on night stages, when were you last involved in the sport..........? , in the nifty fifties ?

never seen a 'flash card' on a stage, and seem just about every rally tog i've seen working in the UK using flash at one point!

I've heard one driver ever use the flash excuse for going off, the fact he was a gear too fast, and came in broadside is irrelevant apparetly, he's renowned for his excuses!

Flash @ rallies = no problem

IMO (as a driver, co-driver, spectator, fanatic and photographer) if the driver even notices the flash he's not paying enough attention to the road!

Cheeky young b****, but yes, it was in the 70's, so a long time ago for sure :(, but I did say that.
The way it worked was when an official togger was on a bend, there would be a card, just one, not piles of them. Individual enthusiasts just flashed away as they do today. Hope that answers your queries ;)

common practice for official toggers on road (night) rallies, although sometimes it makes the drivers try just a little bit harder too. :)
