I am off to costa rica next year and a bit worried about the humidity there and whether it will damage my camera.can see lots of internal condensation happening. has anyone got any hints please.
 
I cant offer any advice but I'll be in a similar position next year so interested in the answer! Hadnt thought about humidity and my kit...
 
While out and about, best advice would be to keep your camera, lenses and flash inside your camera bag when not using them. Try to keep lens changes to a minimum also!

When taking your camera inside, keep it in your bag for an hour before taking it out, give it a chance to adjust to the temperature. When storing it in the room, put it in the bottom of the wardrobe where the aircon has the least effect.

When going from an aircon room out into the heat and humidity outside I always leave the camera in the bag for at least an hour, longer if it's especially humid out.

Keeping your camera and lenses in plastic ziplock bags can help between indoor/outdoor temperature changes too :thumbs:
 
Silica gel sachets will not help at all. Don't waste your time or money. This topic has been discussed at length in the past here.
 
True, I have tried silica gel sachets and they didn't do anything for me - they cannot absorb the moisture fast enough when going form a cold room into the hot and humid outdoors.

Have you ever had the aircon in your car turned up to the max and the got out into a hot summers day? My sunnies always mist over and its the same with cameras.

In the Philippines where we travel regularly I find my "keep it in the bag" technique above works best for me ;)
 
thanks for replies.will keep in bag longer.some places we stay don't have aircon (Have fans)so probably will be ok.
