Yes we are getting thawed snow falling and it is actually thawing the stuff on the ground...........lets hope it doesnt freeze:thumbs:

We were forecast snow today by the Met Office....so I'm digging out my shorts. If they say snow, they must mean sun, as they've had it wrong every day this week so far.

Our 20-30cm due on Tuesday turned out to be nothing more than 2cm.

Well done Met Office. You're a credit to meteorologists everywhere.

Hmm the rain has frozen and turned white.............the thaw didnt last long

Come back Bill Foggitt.

Bring back michael fish.:lol::D:)

If it was a straight fist fight Bill Foggitt would wipe the floor with Kettley and Fish. Infact pound for pound i'd say Foggitt wouldve beaten any weather person on telly, except for Wincey Willis ofcoarse.

I think they should bring back Fred Talbot with his giant floating map. I'd love to see him try his jump in this weather.

Do you remember when that streaker clothed off and jumped on his floating Britain, a classic. :lol:

We are thawing out now, the snow is still about 3" deep but compared to the thick blanket we have had for 2 weeks I am just glad to see some tarmac

Think it's worth putting in a weather update in here.

Yes, the "Big Freeze" is now coming to an end, or at least the worse of it, and it looks like the coming week is going to be rather cold and cloudy with only scattered outbreaks of rain, sleet and locally snow. Since there'll be a good deal of cloud cover about over most of the UK, that will prevent temperatures from falling too low so therefore hard frosts and widespread icy roads should be less of a problem.
Of course, it will serve you well to always be aware that there'll still be some icing around, especially on untreated roads and on country lanes.

However, having said all that, I'm still issuing a warning for a transitional snow event to the far south west for a time on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. That's where an Atlantic front coming in from the south west comes up against the cold air still sitting over the UK and causes the rain to turn into snow for a time.
