Rain protecter for camera.

It looks like its going to be another wet day at Oulton Park on Saturday. I was wondering if any of you had any tips on how I could protect my camera. The camera is a Kodak Easyshare ZD710.

Storm Jackets are great, I always carry one or two and they have never let me down. They are not too expensive either.

got mine from Scoff, fantastic service and great item. maybe overkill for a compact as stated though
 
I just let my kit get wet and just make sure I keep the front of the lens dry, I've had 3 or 4 real soakings this year and the worst I've had is a steamed up filter...
 
yeah for all my camera is water proof but for £15 it isn't worth the hassle IMO and it keeps everything dry, i use used mine on the D200 and 100-300 lens
 
supermarket carrier bag does the job, I always carry with in my bag, cheap,light and waterproof.
 
Disposable shower cap :) Lke those you get in hotel bathrooms
 
Disposable shower cap from Boots (0.79p for 3 - stop it!) and a shammy leather from Halfords to protect the lens.

Or buy a purpose one but I find they are really cumbersome as I bought one off fleabay for about a £10'ish.

these work well I've tried a few different types these seem to be the best at waterproofness and usability - i get wet more weekends then not....

£1000 camera/lens kit in a tesco carrier bag - professional image? - NOT...:thumbsdown:

but you photos look good, with action / news photography access is king if you can get close you can get your shot, i've blagged my way past security and police a few times often if you look the part you can get closer, a white lens and a 1d (battered) may help and most security do not recognise a good camera - they do recognise a tesco bag though...

just a thought - stick with the photos - use the kit you can afford and if you need to - "play the game" to get the photos you want/need :)
 
I always have an Optech rain thingy with me, also my lens hoods have a healthy amount of gaffer tape stuck to them, as does my monopod and tri-pod, always comes in handy, especially for securing rain sleaves :)
 
i can't answer that but on the 1d you just push up and out from the bottom of the eypiece...

often when using the optech rain jacket i don't fit it to the eyepiece, and just peel it back when taking photos, roll it down in between

hope that makes sense
