I need to get something more reliable than the old carrier bag to protect my camera and lens. I've seen a lot of rain covers, mainly for wildlife togs, but have always worried about access to the zoom ring and focus rings. 2 questions...

1) Is access really an issue?

2) Recommendations?

I've looked at Kato (on Wex), Aqua...(also Wex) and http://www.wildlifewatchingsupplies.co.uk/retail/acatalog/Camera___Lens_Covers.html from a link here.

The thermals appeal as I know I'll be freezing my fingers to the lens during the football season.

Thanks in advance!

I got a pair of Op-tech covers from ebay for £8 just in case for the GP this weekend - didn't need them in the end, but they look OK for casual use - not sure how many uses I'll get them though.

I have Kata rain covers and I have been out all day in torrential rain and my camera survived. Can't say I had any problems with access to the zoom ring etc.

I use thinktank for sports... not cheap at all.. but its the difference between a carrier bag and a proper cover.. I can leave my camera out all day in the rain with one of these covers on.. no problem..

+1 on the recommend for Think Tank. I have a couple of covers; for the 70-200 and the long primes.

Has hand ports which allow you to hold the body/lens and work the zoom/focus/controls as well as taking the wind off them.

Probably a £275 investment for the two of them, and eye pieces but worth every penny when you look at the value of the kit they are protecting, even before you start to care about the loss of valuable images, or inability to shoot.

For me I'm also expecting them to be a once only purchase.... no brainer really.

Yep, another one for the Think Tank Hydrophobia.

Really well designed. Made to last and yes they're expensive but a buy it once product.

As above, controls are easy to get to whilst keeping hands dry and it is also possible to change memory card whilst inside the cover.

Cheers guys.
All of the input appreciated.

Never heard of the Think Tank before but looks an amazing effective piece of kit.

THANKS
