RAF London Flypast Tomorrow, April 1st

Always good to see what others shot, and nice pics too! Here's my effort...

Nice, where were you standing?

Thanks. I eventually ended up tucked inbetween the vending stalls just along the river front from Westminster Bridge. That was after spending half an hour wandering down from Vauxhall Bridge checking out different locations (I work there, hence the walk).

I took my 70-200 along but decided to get a wide shot with my 17-40 so got the London Eye in aswel:

Some great shots of icons against icons there guys, very schmooooove indeed.

This is my effort - I was on Westminster Bridge and I decided to go wide, we weren't sure exactly where they were going to appear from so it all happened rather quickly!

The whole place was heaving too, so it was proper elbows out time!

This is straight out of the camera as well, haven't had a chance to work on it yet...

Great shots there, I think the wide ones have worked best.

Yeah the colour looks a bit off on that one, needs a bit of adjustment.

Looks cool though :D

My monitor isn't calibrated either, so chance are the colours will still be off even after I tidy it! ;)

In fact, here it is - cropped, adjusted etc. Any better?

Had to have a play with that image kh, sorry.

There was something too lovely about the dynamics between planes and eye that I wanted to mess about with. Gone a wee bit OTT in typical style but here ya go....

No worries Dazza - you go for it! I really like what you've done. To be honest I had half an eye on the Footie while I was playing so just wanted to tidy it up rather than get creative! (not that I would have produced anything as good as that anyway to be fair!!)

What did you do to create that effect? Rotate, add grain, selectively colour and crop, or is there waaay more to it?

That's about it. There is some tweaking on the levels and contrast. I filled in a little burnt patch just above the planes and that's it. It's just how I saw it as soon as you posted it. Really nice capture.

Thanks - better luck than judgement methinks!

Ah yeah, I had a go at that burnt patch but actually made it look worse so decided I'd have a crack when I've got more time.

Your version is one I'd like to hang on my wall, at least I can claim partial credit for it! My PS skills and general creative vision definitely need honing some...

Some nice shots typically I had to go to a meeting in south london and stood on the platform at Blackfriars Station that extends on the bridge over the river and would have made a great vantage point as you can see all the way to canary wharf from there.....waiting for my train to take me away from a great vantage spot so i was gone by the time they would have come over :'(

Dead nice of you to say so. I was a printer for some years before wielding a camera for cash. I tell you with 110% certainty that if that image was hanging on a wall somewhere you would get all the credit. :)

It was great to see, if a little brief! Not to rub it in of course!

Looks alot better with the adjustments. The first one looked a little washed-out.

:)

Great shots folks, you're all lucky baskets for being able to get there! :)

Great shot and a wise choice going with the 17-40 :)

I work right on Southwark bridge so I am hoping that this weather clears and I may get a couple of shots......going to try out my VR 70-300, but wondering if I should use my 18-135......decisions decisions, has anybody got any tips on how to get the best pictures

I work nr Southwark brigde, but i got caught in a meeting :(
