Ohhh thanks for the heads up, I might go try get a few photos by Tower Bridge or the London Eye.

Now my decision is to use my 17-40 for wideness, or my 70-200 to get closer shots...

No chance of them flying over Harrow.. unless they're going to RAF Northolt. Actually come to think of it.. I did hear some rumbling of some engines this evening so maybe so. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Thanks for the tip. I happen to be in London on business tomorrow and will be taking time out for this...

Wide kinda makes sense to me. We see lots of good plane shots here but how many with a london backdrop. :)

Well, I was thinking of going wide but have now decided to go with the 70-200 becuase i'm going to get a shot of the flyover near the London Eye, on the other side of the river. The map says they will fly directly over the eye and then across the river, so I have a perfect spot :)

The wide is just too wide, and I want to basically frame the RAF flying over the wheel. From the other side of the river I can do it perfectly with my 70-200 (hopefully, I only get one shot at it and NEED to be ready hehe).

I have a perfect vision of what I want this photo to look like, if I manage to pull it off it's gonna be one awesome photo! :D

lololol, I thought the flypast was following the blue line at first, silly me...

Awesome - I'm in London today as well for an appt. so it couldn't be better timing. 8utters - as soon as I read the route I thought the same thing, so I may see you down there (although I won't know it!)

My Appt. is at 1330 in Euston though, so I hope they're on time!!

(Since its the Red Arrows, do you think there's any chance they'll fly UNDER Tower Bridge, just 'cos they can? What a shot that would be! :notworthy: )

I work right on Southwark bridge so I am hoping that this weather clears and I may get a couple of shots......going to try out my VR 70-300, but wondering if I should use my 18-135......decisions decisions, has anybody got any tips on how to get the best pictures

Use the 18-135, the longer zoom might be too long and you'll not get them all in.

My thoughts exactly. I'm planning to be in the same area and have been checking out the map etc. Let's hope the weather breaks and holds good for a once in a lifetime opportunity...

Grrr ... wish I'd seen this last night ...

Sorry Stewart, only found out about this myself last night... doesnt seem to have been very well advertised?

Couldnt you hire a body from somewhere? ;-)

thanks for that, I'm in Canary Wharf today , Barclays tower level 22, facing the 02 arena, but not camera with me:'( . .

But still good view I may used my phone to take some pictures :bang:

The weather is clearing up, nice and sunny now, perfect!

Anyone whos going...i'm the guy with the 70-200 and a red Duff Beer tshirt :D

OK, who got the best pictures then? Let's see them here!

(Great view from Hyde Park, BTW. They banked right just as they came overhead. Wish I'd had the camera with me!

Just uploading now...!

What an amazing sight

Here's one of mine. Not easy shooting through glass with hardly any notice of them coming... (damn the Clifford Chance building!). Taken from the 29th floor...

coo! :)

Looks like it was a good spectacle.
Tad far to see it from Bristol though :(

I took my 70-200 along but decided to get a wide shot with my 17-40 so got the London Eye in aswel:

There were LOADS of photographers around Big Ben and the London Eye.

To my annoyance they didnt fly directly over the London Eye (as they were aiming to fly directly over the MoD which is slightly to the left of the Eye).

I like that one - looks like all the planes have been shot out of the top of the building :)
