...OK, this could take some explaining.

I can't afford to stump up the cash for a set of Pocketwizards or any other radio triggers. What I do have at the minute is 1 reciever and a transmitter of the cactus/ebay style radio triggers, and also my Prolinca IR trigger. In the past I've had difficulties with the IR trigger firing all the flash heads when in studio. So what I'm wondering is whether I could use the radio trigger to fire the IR trigger, with the IR trigger mounted on a tripod pushed as far back as possible (without affecting the range of either trigger). Would this work or would I end up with too much of a lag between the shutter being released and the radio firing the IR firing the flash heads?

I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to do here, you have the radio transmitter atop your camera and the receiver on one of the flash heads, correct?

Surely all you need for any other heads is a cheap optical trigger (a fiver or so) that will react to the flash of the first unit?

Sorry Flash, I'll try and explain a bit better!

Usually in studio I fire flash heads from an IR trigger on my hotshoe. The problem I have is depending on where the heads are for a particular set of shots, not all the heads pick up the signal through their slave/IR cell. What I'm thiking of doing, is putting my chepo radio trigger on my hotshoe, and the reciever on my IR trigger. The IR trigger and reciever will then be mounted on a tripod behind me, ensureing it has a clear line of sight for each flash head.

I fire shutter, hot shoe fires radio trigger

Radio trigger fires radio reciever, in turn firing IR trigger

IR trigger then fires the flash heads.

I think I'll just stick with the IR trigger tomorrow. I'm in a new studio that's pretty pokey, and I'm not using as many heads as I normally would anyway. Looking forward to tomorrow, first time in studio since December

OK mate, I'm going for a long walk on a very short pier :bang:
