Radio 1 breakfast show Nick Grimshaw

I'm afraid I'm far too old for Radio 1 now... I'll stick with my combination of Radio 2 and Absolute in the mornings. Now where's my hot chocolate it's way passed my bedtime Zzzzzzzzzzz

Can';t understand why people don't like Radio 2,
Chris, Bruce, Jeremey, Steve & Tim, Mayo & Co... Brill mix of stuff and some great music.
Understand if you're young, but Radio 1 is for teenagers, and the majority on here (this thread) seem a lot older than teenagers.

I am not young, for sure, but Radio 2 plays music that is just too old for my frame of reference (I was BORN in the 70s, I don't want to listen to music from that decade and before).
They need Radio 1.5

In the meantime, I stick with the genuinely old people listening to radio 4

If you want alternatives, Christian O'Connell on Absolute Radio would be my recommendation. Highly entertaining.

or Brazil & Irani on Talksport - great value and always have a few cringeworthy callers on :)

didn't hear Radio 1 this morning (or any other morning for the last 15 years) but I bet he was still better than Richard sodding Madeley

Ahhh sally traffic, how I love thy sultry voice echoing the traffic chaos down radio waves to me :D

Jeramy Vine,,,, welllll, tend to turn him off or I end up shouting at the radio :cuckoo:

Vanessa used to be good on the early mornings too (I mean real early), a darn sight better then Cat Lady too (those who had 3am starts will know what I mean).

From the bit Steve Wright aired on his prog, to give us R2 listeners an insight, this Grimmy guy had the most boring voice ever. Would certainly prefer Richard Madeley over him.

R2 actually play a good selection of music from the 60's to the present. Not too much Eminem (who I like btw) and Tiny Temper(sp?) etc, but you should give it a chance. :)

Although I'm 46 I grew up listening to Synth music like Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Jean Michelle Jarre etc as i am still obsessed with the sounds that Synthesizers make. Most modern music, especially dand music is almost 100% synth so i can't help but like most of it so Radio1 was good if the DJ was funny like Chris Moyles and Scott Mills. Now Scott is on when I'm at work and Chris has left there are no DJ's I like anymore.

Absolute is good as it plays a lot of 80's music and modern stuff too. I have tried R2 but jeeze I'm not that old!! LOL Still very young at heart me!

I'm the same. I've seen Kraftwerk 3 times and Numan twice. Electronica rocks!

Oooh Kraftwerk Live!! Never managed that but have the DVD's :D I have seen Depeche mode 6 times before they got mega huge (1st time was when 'New Life' was Number 1!) and met them also. I have seen Numan about 23 times i think!! Sad eh! Saw OMD recently with the original band members, That was great!

Kraftwerk 81, 91 and 97. The first Numan show I saw was his farewell show in 81, the one on the Micromusic DVD. It was awesome!

Apparently my age group doesn't have a bbc radio station any more, what with R1 trying to get down from average age listener of 32 and R2 being aimed at the older geheration.

What's the plan for people in their early to mid 30s bbc??

BBC 6Music?

Before I moved here the only music station I listened to was Chill. Not even sure it exists now.

Radio 4 is the way to start the day, what is wrong with you people who need noise!

An awful radio station, for dusty old people who have given up on life.....don't do it to yourself!! :nono:

They play AC/DC, Rush, Aerosmith and alot of other rock music on Radio 2:thumbs:, not the airy fairy rubbish car alarm noise they play on Radio 1.:gag:

I can't stand radio one always seemed like a Chav station to me.
For loud people with nothing to say.
Since I have my dab radio I alternate between,6 especialy hughey, rock (Alice cooper is superb),smooth better than you think, absolute and 2 late night.

seriously we had it on for about 10 mins last week where we all eventually kinda looked at each other and went WTF and turned over. and thats with diverse tastes in music and age ranges from 31-38

You gave it a good go then. Ten minutes?? What show?

My sons are 15 and 21 and wouldn't take kindly to peoples suggestions that Radio 1 is for their age group.

Er no:nono:. Rock music rocks, it's in the name, nothing else can.
That's just as bad as the airy fairy club music that likes to call itself Hardcore:gag:. Please, do me a favour, there is nothing hard about music from different "artists" (I use that term very lightly) that all sample the same backing track and then add their own half a dozen words at most repeated over and over again.:nono:

you dont have deadmau5 new album then?

Grimshaw lived up to his name and sure was grim !! And Scott mills is just as bad with his boring tone.

I have R2 in the car, Chris Evans has actually got better with age, vine at lunchtime gives me chance to see that my world is as bad as I thought it was by finding some of the worlds stupidest people to become involved in phone in discussion. And then Steve Wright to finish with.

In the house we have Absolute on the dab, on days when I'm not out early Christian o Connell make me laugh, but on the whole Absolute's music is limited and day after day they play the same songs. They have the no repeat g/tee for the day time but they really need to expand the time frame in it.

Ah that old chestnut. If it's so easy you should probably go ahead and do it yourself, after-all there's millions to be made from it if you're good ;)

I seriously don't understand people who just universally write off entire genres of music. There's good and bad in every genre. I'd get damn bored of music if I listened to one type, and even more so if all I could enjoy was the same stuff that was on the radio several decades ago!
