Would like to start a petition for submitting to canon for firmware updates on R5 and R5 mk2 bodie

My first would be spot metering on registered focus point. Never happen in a prosumer body

Exsposure bracketing switches off automatically after bracketed images taken. Like they did with dslr's instead of having to turn of in the menu.

Better battery life.

Any one else have suggestions?

Far be it from me to correct you but it might help others who look at the subject and body text if you said "Petition"

Just had a reply back from Canon saying they thanked me for my input and my comments had been passed on to the relevant department.

In regard to what I have made bold above..................I am fairly sure that was talked about in the dSLR days e.g. the 5Dmk3 and was raised with various folks.....................so something like 10 years on and nothing has changed ~ doh!
Edit ~ I may be mixing up my 40D (or the 7D) with my then 5D3 but fairly sure even that body did not do what you wish?

I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you ;)

I'm surprised Canon don't offer this functionality as it seems a pretty basic function to me, however can you not just detect priority AE while AF? Whilst it's not spot metering it does meter from the active AF point(s) so it sounds like it does a similar thing.

I'm sorry from your posts that you're not happy with the R5 II, this is why it's so important to do your research before making a purchase. I know it's too late now but in future it's definitely worth making sure the camera has the features you want, and also to get hands on so you're aware of the ergonomics before buying (y)

I did do all my research . Even bought Olympus OM-D E-M1X to give micro 4/3 a go.
Everyone kept advising the R5 was the way to go. Can't fault the specs its just the body is a little to small.
Shrinkflation is everwhere

This can be an issue, people will often tell you the gear they've got is the best but of course it doesn't suit everyone.

I'm surprised when you say you can't fault the specs yet you've started a thread about petitioning to Canon to add/change some features :thinking:

Either way, I hope you start to gel with it, but all accounts it's a very good camera.

Why remove features that have been there for decades. It's just software.
If you dont ask you won't get.
You wouldn't pay for something without asking for a discount. You go out for a meal, if the foods crap you don't just pay and leave you tell them straight. If the foods great you leave a tip.
I've been in design ,development and testing for 30+ years. It's just the way I'm built.

Do agree about the metering issue would be handy
As for the size of the R5 surely that is just because the mirror assy isn’t there anymore so the camera is going to be smaller
For me at least the R5 is an amazing camera, it makes it easier to just concentrate on getting the composition right
