very sad but what a great run with some awesome achievements, lots of local connections where I live(5 mins walk from where the Attenborough's grew up) so I expect the flowers and cards are collecting at the College Court gates and the old boys will be in the local at lunch talking about the brook they all used to play at.

RA: Now we need this in one take, but we need them to convey their pain. Explain to them. Gandhi is gone, darling...their hero, their leader is dead. It's a catastrophe. The whole country is in mourning. I need you to get over to them how profound it is.
HANDLER (speaking to 30, 000 extras): Right you lot, listen up! Ghandhi's dead, and you're all f*****g sad about it!!

RIP to a great man.
Dickie was Chancellor at my university when I graduated. At the ceremony, as each student came up he made sure they got a hearty handshake and sincere congratulations. Realising that time was getting away from them, the staff tried to hurry things along by reading names out quicker but he'd have none of it, still taking the same amount of time to congratulate each and every person and causing a traffic jam of mortar boards at the side of the stage. I think the ceremony overran by more than an hour in the end and he didn't care a jot. A warm and considerate man and I feel privileged to have had the chance to shake his hand and say, "thanks, Pinky".
