I've just acquired a pair of Sigma teleconverters (1.4x and 2x APO EX DG). I'm quite surprised to see that neither of them appears to bear a serial number. Is that normal? Can anyone who has one of these please check?

Hi Stewart
My 1.4 and 2x have numbers just below the mounting ring above where it says 'Lens made in Japan', but they are very hard to see.
Ian

They should definately have a serial number.

Having said that there are some "dodgy" Sigma lenses on Ebay - with no serial numbers. There was a huge burgary from Sigma UK about 18 months ago.... so you can draw your own conclusions there!

I got a Sigma lens a while ago with the serial removed and it went straight back. Having said that on the Sigma TC's the serial is hard to see.

Thanks Ian. Now I know where to look, I can see that they do have serial numbers. But they have to be under a really bright light before they're visible!

Thanks PD. Mine were quite legit - one from Jessops, one from Jacobs. I can't afford to buy anything that might be even slightly dodgy!
