Quick selection tool problem CS6

A problem I have sometimes when using this tool and then using EDIT, FILL, CONTENT AWARE, is that after the adjustment has been made the selection dots do not automatically disappear, which prohibits me using the Clone or Heal tool until they do.

To get around this I have to use the ALT key and the selection tool again over these areas.

Is there something else I could be doing.

not got CS6 or quick selection... but would "CTRL D" do what you want..... (deselect all)
