if you win a prize in a photography competition - does that mean you can style yourself as an 'award winning photographer' ?

:mooning:

PS please can we have some minion smilies?

I think some people style themselves as award wining photographers if they have a bronze swimming certificate

I suppose so, but ... The question is, would you want to? Depends very much on the prize, I guess!

Also, you're setting yourself up for a fall if you do, because there'll then be an expectation that you're a cut above the average. Unless you can consistently deliver exceptional images time after time I think I probably wouldn't.

this is true - but in general it seems to be the mediocre or beginner (or often both) who rely on saying on their websites that they are award winning - the experienced pro who can reliable deliver exceptional work doesn't need to because the quality of his or her images speaks for itself

A prestigious competition could be worth crowing about - more so than membership of some of the societies, some of which allow the use of their initials simply by paying the fee to the family concerned...

Talking of awards has that slack-4rsed green team posted the pic(k) of the month for July yet?:coffee::exit:

(only joking of course team :notworthy: )

Its a fair cop. If I ever had any "mojo" it's definitely disappeared of late. I think Ive realised I prefer looking at landscape/wildlife pics to actually taking them.

TBH I think there are a lot of members on here that feel the same way,
there's nothing wrong with that in the slightest BTW :)

I haven't got any spare Mojo.....But I have a Fruit Salad you can have :-)

I have no wish to inadvertantly offend the confectionery

Gold star award on Flicr ?

An national award from a prestigious body, organisation or company can add kudos.

In a fortnight or so, I shall enjoy a Mojo (with an "it" after the "j") to help celebrate my 2nd rebirthday. Unfortunately, the bar that made the best Mojitos has closed but I'm sure I can find another one to do the honours!!!
