Quick question about Flickr

Hi guys. All my photos on Flickr are public and I often link some of my photos here. But sometimes I want to share photos just for the forum and not for general public viewing.

If I upload some photos to Flickr and change the viewing of those to private and then link those private ones to TP, will they be visible to TP?
 
Only if the person viewing has a flikr account and on your private list

PS i havent got flickr.. just a common sense guess at the answer :)

PPS they are not privtae on here.. they are searchable and viewable by anyone

If the photo is private in Flickr then it won't be visble here.

Flickr is public by default. I prefer using Google Photos to share photos, the default there is private unless you share an album or create a link and share the link..
 
Thanks for the replies Kipax and Duncan. Ah well it's not a big problem, I'll just link as normal and keep them public. There are other Flickr options like friends or family only, but I can't see that they would be much help either as I would just want any member of TP to be able to see them. For example, I just wanted to share test photos I took with a new lens but without my Flickr followers or random Flickr viewers needing to see them.

Oh yeah, I can see that photo. That's promising then. :) But as Kipax mentioned, is it only people on TP that have a Flickr account who will be able see it? But I'd imagine almost everyone on a photography forum will probably have one.

Can somoene please explain to me what PRIVATE means in the land of flicker as it seems to mean somehting totally different than anywhere else :)

Thanks for testing that. Seems like anyone on TP should be able to see private Flickr photos then.

The problem I find with other picture upload sites is that the quality isn't as nice and sharp as the tif files shared from Flickr.

Plus anyone not on flickr and anyone on flickr... so kinda defeats what you set out to do ? :)

Good point! Unless they remain unseen on Flickr itself and only visible via an actual link such as the links for the photos posted above?

They are private unless you share a specific link to the image. If you want them to be completely private, don't share a link to them
 
Yes you can see private images ,I have done it lots of times when advertising for sale items I don’t want on my main stream

That's the point - you can post a link here and we will be able to see it but if it is marked 'Private' or in a 'Private' Album then it won't show or be visible without the link.

They aren't. I can see them on your Flickr stream.

This. If I just look at Elliott's stream out of the blue without having followed an image link first, his 5Div image isn't visible ... so everyone can relax ... ;)

Erm....well.....

Not on your Flickr stream if the 'Private' function works properly.

I just went to your flickr photostream by searching for you from the home page, I can see that photo.
