Back to the OP, I was under the impression no one can refuse to take them as they are legal tender, they may not like it but its still legal money:shrug:
Technically you are correct, however in the past I've always had difficulties with people accepting 50s in the UK, so much so that I often needed a trip to a bank just to get them changed down, and besides if somebody "illegally" refuses to accept a 50 what are you going to do? Call the police
I don't think they get away with refusing the money, more that they choose not to enter into a contract of sale iykwim
I think you're bang on there. That would appear to be the legal loophole to use.
Besides I really don't need to bring much money now. A hundred should do it as my mum has sold a load of stuff of mine that was never going to make it to Switzerland, and thus has a few hundred waiting for me. So I'm pretty much sorted.
