quick neg scanner & light 35mm camera

HI!

just wondering if anyone call advise me on a good neg scanner. i used this massive nikon one a while back and it took for ever to scan the negs. is this just a general rule with neg scanners?? prehaps i was doing it wrong but it seemed to take silly time, (6 negs were taking half an hour). im not looking for perfect quality but something thats fast with decent results. thanks.

also, can any one recomend a light 35 mm camera. i know very little about 35mm cameras but enjoy the results. im using an olympus om 10 with a 50mm lens. the photos are good but it seems like a bit of a heffer. i want to keep the same quality of photos but would love to loose some weight from the camera?? any decent plastic cameras out there with good lenses??? or any really small 35mm cameras something that could fit in a trouser pocket? it would be great if someone could help me!! many thanks. pat
 
I picked up a canon 3000v slr with two (not very good but usable) lenses on ebay BNIB for £100. Then have added the 50mm f/1.8 for another £50. All cheap-and-cheerful lightweight plastic but I'm really enjoying using them!

Scanner wise thre is a 5MP one on ebay about £60 which supposedly scans in 5 seconds. Presumably it is bascially a 5MP digital camera sensor with the image projected onto it. Hence wouldn't like to say about quality! I'm using a flat-bed Canon myself but it takes similar time to yours at 4800dpi. Much faster at 1200dpi.

after months of consideration im still not sure which neg scanner to purchase!! ive got about 400 35mm negs that i want to scan. and id like it to take as little time as possible (being impatient) but maintain a certain quality of image.

is their anyone with exmples of 35mm B&W negs sacnned in at 1200dpi, 2400dpi and 4800dpi? i'd love to see the difference in quality and also like to know the scan time per neg??

a lot to ask but if anyone could send any links/files that would be brilliant. thanks. pat:bonk:
