Hi folks, I know fish eye lenses are not very well liked on here but I just had a quick question so please bare with me :)

I bought a cheap ebay lens just to experiment with but the pictures are not very "curved" like I would expect from a fish eye.

What is the figure that would mean a larger curve?

For example this lens is 0.45x

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/55mm-0-45x-Wi...es_CameraLensesFilters_JN&hash=item27b84bed45

and this one...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/0-25x-Fisheye...es_CameraLensesFilters_JN&hash=item19c2ad2bce

Or does the 0.25x relate to the magnification?

Basically I am after another fish eye lens with more of a "curve" :)

hope that makes sense,

Sammy

These are wide angle adapters and the 0.45x is indeed the magnification (which modifies the view of the lens you screw it on).. if you want a fish eye for the effect, that will be best achieved with a dedicated fisheye lens but to recommend one.. what camera are you using it on?

Hi

The first one is merely a wide angle which has been designed or corrected not to give the fish eye effect.

The second one is a fish eye giving the effect I believe you require.

The number relates to the field of view, therefore if you attach to a typical kit lens of 18-55, the field of view will be more like a 4.5-13.75 ( @ 0.25x)

Please note these are filters not lenses so will need to be mounted onto a lens with the correct thread width, the wide angle shown indicates 55mm.

I am using a Sony A200 DSLR. A recommendation would be great :)
