I recently got a copy of windows 7 home.

I installed it and found it was a 32 bit copy, I wanted 64, Have I missed an option in the installation set up or have I bought the wrong version of windows and need another disc?

Cheers Stuart

Thank you. that was a stupid over site on my part.

next question. Can i buy a 64 bit upgrade disc to upgrade from my 32 bit or do I need to buy a full vesion again?

Cheers Stuart

My upgrade disk has 32 or 64 bit choice. You will need a legit version of vista or xp (I'm not 100% sure if it will upgrade from xp tho') first I believe cos the upgrade disk will check before installing.

you cannot upgrade a 32 bit OS to a 64 bit, its a fresh reinstall. but personally id be inclined to get the correct OEM to start with.

I did have a genuine copy of XP although I have misplaced the disc. My recently computer died and my freind said he would help by getting my a cheap copy of 7 as I am broke and needed to get a couple bits of hardware

. just put it down to experince and buy a full copy myself.

I'm a student so hopfuly there is a cheap way of doing this.
