Hi all.
I am going to buy a portable studio flash kit in the new year, and I have basically decided on the Lencarta ElitePro 4 head kit. I want 4 heads, as I am going to be using the 2 smaller heads (300's) for (white) background lighting, with the 2 mains for subject.
I can see myself using the system outdoors, not very often, admittedly, but it would be nice to have the facility to do so.
Any-one have any views on using the Elitepro heads with some sort of battery pack outdoors? I cannot afford to buy a Safari system just for rare use outdoors. (Even if I want to!!)

Thanks in advance,
Gary.

Generally speaking, 2 lights outdoors are enough, so if you're only going to use 2 then yes, you can run them from one of the battery/inverter systems.

Or just buy the Safari - you know you want to:)

Thanks for the link, exactly the sort of thing I am thinking of.
Does any-one know if these battery packs do any damage to the flash units over time? I'm guessing not, or they wouldn't sell too many.

I know I want to, but must.remain strong.

@Garry - As the Lencarta Guru, can you advise on what to look for from a battery pack, with regard to technical spec?
I would hate to get something which might damage the heads.
Better yet, why don't Lencarta make one?:)

I happen to know that Richard (wearing his technical writer hat) has tested the Innovatronix Explorer for a magazine. He says it's good, so my advice is to follow his advice on this.

Yes, Lencarta will be making one, it will be called the PowerTrekker. Unfortunately though these things always take much longer than expected, especially for a small manufacturer so I can only suggest that you get the Innovatronix Explorer for now.

Thanks Garry, that has set my mind at rest for the future.
Appreciate your honest answer with regard to buying, although it will be a while before I press the buy button. I intend to get my Elite kit very early in the new year, so it will be a few months (I guess) before I need to get a battery pack.

Thanks again,
Gary.

Get yourself a couple of these. Don't get the ones with thermal cutouts because they cut out ;)

Srsly? No shoot is complete without them.

It was dirty girls on motorcycles - so lank hair and leather were de rigueur, not your prissy fashion shoot stuff – more grunge than glamour – so absolutely no need of such frivolous items. The make-up trunk had the likes of Tyre Black, Solvol (chrome cleaner) WD40 and loads of rags…
