Question on the usual rules for photo competitions?

Yes
Hello, I haven't posted here in quite a while but I've recently been getting out again with the camera, and yesterday I got a few wildlife photos that I was very pleased with. I thought I may enter them in some competitions for the experience, not that I think they'll win anything.

I was just wondering, what are the usual rules for competitions, specifically around sharing images beforehand? As in, can I put the images here or on my social media pages and then enter them at a later date? For some reason I have a feeling I may have heard that the images have to have not been shared.

Finally, any opinions on which competition may be good for a wildlife photo?

Thanks for any insight.

I'm afraid that your question is too general.

Every promoter is free to make up their own rules so you need to get a copy of the rules for the competition you're considering and go through it yourself. I've never entered a competition in my 55 years of photography because reading the rules invariably cures me of any desire to take part.

Of course, others will hold different opinions.

Also be aware that some of these competitions are money spinners for the organiser.
Entry fees and then £x per image submitted.
