considering a ultra wide for my K10D. But as I'm still shooting a lot films on my super A, I wonder how the Tamron 10-24mm will perform on the FF / film body.Is there anybody here on forum using a Tamron 10-24mm and could kindly advice on FF or film body in which range it will work without a black ring/corner in the shots, say from 17-24?? Doesn't matter what mount is it, EF mount can test on EF film bodies and K mount can test on pentax film bodies and so on, results should be similar.

yes, I know sigma 12-24 is a full frame but it's too expensive, too heavy, too large and the front element ... oh no

I've also read that the pentax DA 12-24 is partly usable on film body too, it would more helpful if somebody can advice the answer for the same question regarding Tamron 10-24mm? :help: cheers

The Pentax 12-24 is the same as the Tokina isn't it? If so I think it can be used FF without a huge amount of vignetting after around 14-16mm?

Although isn't the Pentax about £600, which is more than the sigma is it not?

I've heard the pentax and tokina 12-24 are very similar, so you have tried with the tokina one and get fairly normal shot after 16mm?

the sigma 12-24 is approx. 100 pound more expensive than pentax and is larger, heavier with an odd front element begging for scratch...:gag:

regardless of weather they will fit... i was put off buying a tamron 10-24, by verious bad reviews, i think dpp did one if i can remember rightly... ended up going for the tonika 12-24, its an ace of a lens :)

who is dpp?

what kind of bad review on tamron 10-24mm? I just found this lens today and I thought it looks not that bad.....:help:

I won't be able to go for the tokina as it does not have a pentax K mount, I have to go for the pentax DA 12-24 if the tamron is really no good....but that is 100 more quad...

The Pentax DA 12-24mm is actually made by Tokina and is exactly the same apart from having the Pentax smc coating which means it actually performs ever so slightly better as it has more flare control.

I couldn't tell you how it performs on a film camera but on my K10D it is superb.

An exceptional lens (and only £250 delivered from Jessops when they had their clearance sale last month :) ).

AFAIK, the only UWA suitable for FF and 35mm use is the Sigma 12-24. I've had mine for a few years now and have never had a worrying moment with the front element. There again, if I'm wandering around with it fitted, it always has the lens cap on - after all, it's hardly a grab-shot lens so the second or 2 that removing the cap takes is hardly likely to make you miss the shot! It's not light or cheap but nothing with that much glass is going to be. They do turn up 2nd had from time to time but to be honest, I've never seen one (2nd hand) in Pentax fit.

Of course, there IS a major problem trying to use the 12-24 on a Super A - no aperture ring!

Oh &^& can't believe I missed that...cheapest I can find now is 470 excl delivery...painful, for 250 quad I'll definitely get one the next second:gag:
