We have just taken the plunge and bought a couple of mountain bikes and was wondering what you guys do with your tripods and bags when out and about on the bike.
I have a LowePro rucksack with the top half as a regular rucksack and the lower part a padded camera pack with enough room for my 400D with Sigma 17-70 and a couple of small lenses and filters etc. Outside of the bag has a flip down flap thing that allows the tripod legs to sit in whilst the top end is secured with a bungee/net thing. I have a Gitzo Explorer with Off-Centre ball head, is pretty heavy and does make the pack a little unsteady but not overly so. But it is a bit of a faff to get on and off the pack and cant get access to the camera when it is attached.
Do you guys have your tripod on your packs? Or do you secure them to your bike? Do you wear your rucksack or secure them on your bikes?
If you secure them to your bike, what do you use? I have seen a couple of panniers but not sure whether to bother or not. Are there any makes/suppliers that I should look at?
