There are some turning orange/brown/red in Cockermouth and the surrounding area but I don't know if it's the same all over Cumbria.

You planning a trip? :D

(I'm off to bed so if I don't reply - I'm asleep :p)

They are just turning on the Penrith side, but still have a way to go.

Not exactly planning one, Mrs G wants to have a trip over there on Monday so just wondering if I will be able to get some good autumn shots.
Won't be much of a tog day as I will have two dogs in tow as well, ever tried taking pics with two dogs tugging at their leads :bang:.

Mmmmm, I might try and put her off for a couple of weeks maybe, bit risky though as it only needs one snap frost with a little wind and the trees are naked.

Yep, starting to look good, another couple of weeks yet I would say, I will be having a trip up Loughrigg - in fact will have a drive about to day and see what I can find !

Loughrigg, don't believe I have been there, do you drive there or trek there :)

Let me know how it goes anyway.

I'll ask me dad, he's in Kendal these days!! :)

Cheers.

Maybe I should wait a while........or take the "baggage" on Monday and do it unhindered in two weeks time :D

Loughrigg is between Ambleside and Grasmere, above Rydal - it is a light walk and the mutts will love it !

Thanks for that, the mutts would love it I am sure but I am afraid Cavalier King Charles dogs are not suited to trekking with their long coat and "feathers" (they would come back filthy and matted) especially the long haired one on the right here :D

They would be fine on the walk mentioned above its a gravel path and a very well trodden one at that !

Just had a drive around, got as far as the head of Longsleddle and the trees are really starting to turn now, won't be long so I would take advantage of this week !

Thanks for being so helpful Ian, looks like we are going to make the trip across to the lakes tomorrow as something else has come up on Monday.

It will take us 2 hours to get to Ambleside, so to make a decent day of it that's Mrs G's lie-in cancelled :D

We are not seasoned walkers, fit enough, but still fancy having a go at the Ambleside - Loughrigg - Ambleside walk. You have to register and pay £15 to be able to download the route though, I expect it is well signposted so we won't get lost.

Weather looks good tomorrow so hope to come back with a few good shots.

Cheers.

Mal.

Don't pay, I will try and find another link, I rust you will come across the A66 then down from Keswick to Ambleside ?

Try this, you don't have to go all the way to Grasmere, stunning view over Rydal Water and the native trees from Loughrigg Terrace which look amazing in Autumn !

Doggies will be fine, my Westie loves it up there, they will get wet tummies though so if you have coats for them it will help - they will have such fun though !

Got no coats for them, much as I would like to kit them out I very much doubt my two would wear them:D 4 pairs of booties would be ideal for them:D

Seeing as they have only just had their monthly "doggy pamper day" on Thursday we will have to keep them as clean as possible so will go for the drier route.

Appears to be a nice day over here, have fun !

Thought we were not going to make it as late on last night I twisted my back and did not get much sleep, now that I have been up a few hours it has eased off a bit. We are going to make the trip but whether or not we do the walk depends on how my back is.

Of course Mrs G is blaming the time I spend on the computer and carrying my camera bag :bang:, but she is sympathetic at the same time

We should get there about mid day.
