So...just wondering what your ideas are.

I am in Edinburgh, and thinking ioc taking the campervan to a nice spot and waiting on whatever sunrise might turnout :)

any ideas??? :)

Gary.

cheers mike :) not really a camper, Renault scenic 7 seated with all seats down, blow up mattress and a sleeping bag, can't beat it :) like a tent on wheels...

Where in fife to you reccommend for some good shots??

Gary.

How about some kind of time-lapse photograph series? Take one photo every hour or so (you may be able to set your camera to do this automatically depending on which one you use) May be nice to shoot somewhere with some lights & watch them being replaced with the sun coming up :)

good idea. The powershot g9 would be great for this!!

if your going to fife , you can get in down at the harbor beside the rail bridge and you could get some framing shots using the lower section of the bridge as a frame and shooting towards South Queensferry and the capital.

Failing that head up to hill end area, and there is a car park there, get some shots over the city as it awakes, would look great.

However you might catch the odd night hunters up at that car park. LOL

Mike

Light trails may be a nice idea or some long exposure sky shots - depends on how rural you're going to be getting  No long exposures of night hunters though please

lol

well its very popular with the Young couples, and sometimes people walking there dogs.....minus the dogs.

if you catch my drift

Mike

It may well do actually, I don't have a D200 to hand. I have perfectly acceptable results using the bulb setting though - just use a steady tripod & try not to move around too much

I'd recommend not gripping the camera itself though, just press the shutter button & keep your finger rested there until you've completed the shot (obviously not overly professional an approach but it's worked for me when I've not had a cable release handy :))

easy to get the car to the other side? Isn't the palace grounds locked at night?

not that I am aware off

there is car park beside the Health center that is a public one. and from there you can walk into the palace grounds.

Not sure what the sunrise will look like tomorrow

should be nice and crisp as its a cold clear night tonight

good luck

post up ** results

these were taken a few months ago at about half seven so the light quality etc will be much different now. but still a place i would go to again!

bulb setting??? Argh, lost now :)

If you keep lowering your shutter speed then after a while the speed will show up as "bulb" instead - this means that the shutter will stay open for as long as you keep your finger on the button

Obviously better with a remote because you remove the possibility of moving the camera but if you're pretty steady then you can get some really decent results

Hi,

Also suffer with waking in the early hours and not being able to get back to sleep.

Love going out in the motorhome and taking those early morning strolls.

As to a quick trip, that is a bit more difficult in a 30ft Winnebago RV! However it does have a superb heating system, onboard shower full interior and exterior hi fi system etc etc! You get the drift, ie would not be slumming it!

Other thing I enjoy is reading, at the moment anything to help with wedding photography in preparation for Daughter's wedding in Cyprus. But most of the time novels.

Regards

Chris

Your RV sounds fantastic, and £££ I bet :) I looked last year and got a hell of a fright

Well had a drive around N. Queensferry and Rosyth, but didn't fancy anywhere really. Continued north east, stopped just past Anstruther and got what I hope are some very nice shots

I will post them ASAP, off to feed the dog and cat's, then I need to get ready for work.

Gary.

Certainly expensive to fill up with petrol! 7.5 litre V8 and if I could fill it in the UK it would be about £400!

Not a good picture but here she is with my classic Mini cabrio on a trailer:
