Hi All

Here's something I don't understand and would appreciate some advice on please.

I import images into Lightroom, then carry out some minor tweaks and edits, then decide that as I am not ready to fully export images for printing or web just yet, but I want to play with some things.... I right lick on the image in LR and select 'Edit in Photoshop'. This then creates a .tiff file, and opens the file in Photoshop for editing.

I make some amendments to this .tiff file in Photoshop, then select Save-As... and here's the confusion... I don't get the option to Save-As a jpg file... it's not in the list of file types.

Yes, I know I can select Save-for-web, but I don't want to do that just yet.

Any idea why save-as jpg is not available folks...?

is the image 16 bit? needs to be 8 bit before you can save as jpeg - just a guess I don't have LR

hehe...your quite right. I was exporting 16bit tiffs from photomatix into CS2 and couldn't save as jpegs, apart from "save for web", and luckily (before i pulled my hair out) realised they needed to be converted to 8bit first!

Now all I need to get sorted is this darned colour space thing. When I see images on the screen in Photoshop, they look way more vibrant than when I save-as jpg and display on the net somewhere.

Before you save for web, etc. make sure you are converting the image to sRGB or just use that as your working space in the first place.
