I do not think there was one. They always had a meter and battery fitted.

The one and only (and soon superseded) Canonflex I expect.

Even the FT had a light meter.

Definitely not the A1 as mentioned above - that has quite a lot of electronics.

Best I can think of is the F1. If memory serves, whilst it did have a battery for metering, you could still shoot with it if the battery went flat. That is not the case with the A1 - if the battery died, so did the camera.

When I say electrics, before the advent of LCD displays. The balance of electrics shifted heavily from the A1, F1 when the T70 was launched, with the first of the EOS range coming shortly afterwards. I misinterpreted the question slightly.

Really the F1 series all knobs and LCDs, battery only used for metering but the body was mechanical.

All the 'A' series and 'T' series if battery went dead then so did the cameras.

Thanks for the reply's

I was looking for a mechanical 35mm film slr , I have a hand held light meter

Just want to do ALL the settings like ASA , aperture , shutter speed , without electronics , as I say Old School :D

Was also looking at a F3 Nikon or F3HP ;)

Take a look at the Pentax LX and the Pentax MX too..there both mechanical apart from there meters and built like battleships....I also believe the Olympus OM 3&4 are mechanical too apart from there meters

Nikon F3 & F3 HP are battery dependant I think the mechanical speed is 1/90 if the batteries fail.

The earlier Nikon F and F2 are mechanical with the F2 range only needs batteries for the metering heads they have.

Olympus OM 4 is totally battery dependant, batteries fail the camera will not work, it does not have any mechanical speeds.

The much rarer OM 3 is totally mechanical (in fact it is a mechanical version of the OM4) and this only requires batteries for the meter.

Nikon FM was mechanical but used batteries to power the meter.
FM2 used more electronics but again would function without if you had a seperate meter.
Nikkormat FTm was fully mechanical as were the F and F2. The F2-AS used a battery to power the meter but was still fully mechanical.
F3 and related bodies were electronic but had a 1/60 sec mechanical shutter setting for emergencies. Though what practical use that was in reality I have no idea.
F4 and F5: fully electronic - no batteries = no photos.
