Hey All - good morning/afternoon/evening to you
I have been experimenting this morning, as I still am unable to determine which gallery script/app I should use to generate and manage the images I want to publish to my domain - however, this is another story! I decided to have a look at how Lightroom itself would create galleries to see what they were like, again - that's another story...
In so doing, I started looking to export certain files to preview the gallery and code in my browser and html editor - but many images were 'unable to be exported' because the originals could not be found and Lightroom used the most recent jpg in it's image cache!!
All fine and dandy, but this led me to think of a few questions here;
I have been using the latter, but am now thinking I should change my workflow to the former. When I do an Import from the Camera/CF Flash using Lightroom, the app selects a "Import Images and Convert to Digital Negative" process, and I have no idea if this is the correct process, or the one I should be using.
Last night I also tried exporting all my recent holiday images to DVD for my friend, but out of 780, only 282 were successfully exported. I imagine that tis was due to the same reasons i.e. Lightroom could not find the originals etc - though they exist on my external drive etc.
So - I am considering physically moving all my image files to a specific location on my external drive, then resetting Lightroom to import the lot and reference them from there. Would that do...? is that the way to do these things...?
Long post I appreciate, especially on a Sunday morning, but all advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

All fine and dandy, but this led me to think of a few questions here;
- why couldn't Lightroom find the image, but was still able to display it
- why is Lightroom using a cached version of certain images
- why does Lightroom not find the originals (on external drive)
- Most Importantly: How do you manage your workflow in terms of getting images from your camera, onto your drive, and post processing etc.
