I received the head today along with my 055XPROB which is a great, I'm really loving the head but have found that moving the head from the horizonatal (Landscape shots) tilting it upwards to move the camera to Portrait style shooting, gives me very limited play not allowing me to tilt forwards and backwards much.

Can anyone explain how they use the 322RC2 and change between portrait and lanscape shooting? Obviously I can use the tripod arm, but doesn't that defeat the point? Or am i missing something obvious?

Any help appreciated

you need to let the jaws around the ball rotate so the slot is forwards/backwards, if you've turned the friction knob up it'll be difficult for the jaw piece to rotate in the handle.
Easiest way: with head in landscape twist the head so the camera lens would be pointing down towards the floor, now lift the handle so its vertically upwards and you will be in portrait mode with 90 degrees adjustment available forwards

writing this while doing it on mine but I've converted to left handed so ?????

I can't remember exactly how to do it but the ( camera mounting) plate can be mounted on the end of the grip and the grip itself is then mounted longways
( upright) onto the tripod so it looks like a "joystick" and is mounted vertically rather than horizontally
HTH?

I dont want to mount it vertically, i think wookie has hit the nail on the *head*!
