Hi Everyone,
So I have a couple of old Minolta flashguns left over from my film days in the eighties. They work fine on my D7200 in manual, no TTL of course. I don't particularly need TTL but I'd like to get them off camera. Would I be able to use these old units with some radio triggers or would I be better off buying a couple of Yongnuo flashguns and using the built in flash in commander mode? Have flashguns improved much in the last thirty years? Mine are certainly very slow to recharge. Thanks.

Just mind that the voltage on those old flash guns is not to high or they may damage your camera.

I think flashes have improved since the days of your Minoltas. You could fit them with slave sensors to fire them remotely from the onboard flash or get something fancier. The Yongnuo flash triggers and guns are excellent VFM.

You can use the Yongnuo RF603 triggers, they will work with the older guns fine,

I use a pair of Nissin 360TW's as backlights on RF603's work well, cheap too, depending on which Minolta guns you have they should work fine.the TTL ones will only work in Manual.

Thanks everyone. Think I'll get some RF603's to start with.
