Quesntion : Macro extension tube and ebay lenses

Been looking around for things I would like to buy for my D3000 and now have a few questions. Has anyone used / use a macro extension tube like the one in the link below?

Do they work? I assume dedicated Marco lenses work better, but do these things still give ok pics?

Also I noted that on ebay you can buy new lenses a lot cheaper than in the shops. Has anyone bought a lens off ebay?

Extension tubes work extremely well and these probably will as well but they are not AUTO tubes so you would lose AF and Aperture control.

I have a set of Kenko DG AF auto tubes (bought on here) and they are perfect since they retain all electrical controls.
 
never thought about the auto functions, think i will have to look for a set that is auto
